![]() It's made clear during the fight that Ichigo is physically a lot stronger than Yhwach, the only reason why he doesn't win as soon as he goes Hollow mode is that The Almighty is so OP. Though, one might argue it's because Ichigo trained like crazy and upgraded his sword that it only took one slash to kill Yhwach in the end. I mean, Ichigo trained like crazy, upgraded his sword, ran around all of the final arc, never doing much, then comes the final confrontation and it is ONE slash? I suspect the fight will be significantly longer in the anime, this is just one of those things that were rushed in the manga because Kubo wanted to get the whole thing over with as quickly as possible. Secondly, why is there no actual fight between the two? The third time was for the "Yhwach made his own prophecy come true" reveal, by showing that under Tensa Zangetsu's shell, the core has the same general shape as the old Zangetsu that Yhwach saw in his dream. ![]() It was probably also in part an excuse to give the Fullbringers something useful to do before the end, as well as a way to pay off the whole "Fullbringers have the power to defy God" thing Aizen had foreshadowed in reference to Orihime. It's a subversion of expectations thing, kinda like the time Aizen stopped Ichigo's sword by raising a finger, it's supposed to keep you on your toes so that you'll never be sure of what's about to happen next. ![]() The second time was a fake-out, you expect the MC to put up an epic fight, only for them to get swatted like a bug. The first time was basically an excuse to give Ichigo a new Bankai, since he'd have no reason to reforge his old one if it didn't break. Firstly, I don't get why Kubo went for Yhwach breaking Ichigo's sword THREE times. ![]()
